So I heard somewhere that some crazy huge percentage, I'm not sure of the actual number, of Christian kids leave the church and never come back when they get to college. Since I'm leaving for college in just a couple of months I'm gonna try my hardest not to become part of that statistic.

One of the first things I'm gonna do when I get down there is find a church. It's gonna take a lot of willpower but I'm gonna try to drag myself out of bed every Sunday and go to church without having to be told by Mom.

I'm gonna keep reading the Bible every day and pray all the time for God to keep me focused.

Finally I'm gonna try to do that campus ministry thing I mentioned a few posts ago. If I'm working on sharing the gospel with others I should be more focused myself.

If you've got any tips, encouragements, or whatever I'll totally appreciate it.

On a completely unrelated topic, happy Mother's Day!  I love ya Mom! I wouldn't be the incredibly amazing guy I am today if it wasn't for you :)

The reason for this huge percentage is simply that many who claimed to be Christian never desired to practice their faith in the first place. They weren't really "deverted" as much as just saying who they had always been in the first place.

Hi
I've spoken to you once on the Christian Teen Forums, and found your blog through there. I just wanted to commend you for your writing skills. Pretty cool blog; how long have you been at it?

Soli Deo Gloria, Ahlaischa

There's usually several Christian/Theology/Philosophy type clubs on campus to get involved with. I wonder if some of that statistic is because of students going out to party on Saturday night and not wanting to get up on Sunday...I found your blog through your mom's blog. You are well-spoken in your writing. What are you planning to study?

Hey Ross ....
Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving your sweet comment!!! I commend you TOTALLY for being who you are and staying true to yourself. I know it's difficult in today's world ... my granddaughter is 17 and is trying hard to stay true to herself and her beliefs also! Keep up the good work and God will see you through!! Hope you're having a happy summer!!

P.S. I'm assuming your Mom is Carla ... she's a great lady & friend!!

You sound like a great kid whose intentions are to do good. God knows your heart and knows that we are human. Take each day as it comes. I tend to backslide when I try to set a goal rather than allow God to use me everyday. I was very flattered when a friend once told me that she admired the "kind" of Christian that I was. She went on to elaborate that I took a very strong stance for what I believe in but I lived my faith rather than telling or pushing it on others and that I was still Real/normal and not a turn off. Does that makes sense??
BTW, thank you for your comment over on my blog.
I hope you have a great day, mine is now over

Ross...Coming to you by way of a first visit to your mom's blog. You sound like a great, grounded kid! When my son was your age, he struggled with some horribly bad choices in his life, even though he grew up in a Christian home. As parents, we can never take things for granted, like 'of course our kids will do the right thing'. So stay strong and always seek God's wisdom first. Blessing to you!
